Gov. George Deukmejian has signed into law a bill extending the San Diego “workfare” program for two years.
Legislation extending the 3-year-old experiment, the state’s only mandatory work requirement for welfare recipients, was passed Thursday by the Legislature.
The program was to have expired Sunday.
