A 63-year-old Tarzana man who fired a shot at his live-in companion during a domestic dispute fatally shot himself in the head as police ran to a condominium balcony where he was holding a gun, police said.

The dead man’s identity was not released Tuesday because his family had not been notified.

The dispute began shortly after 10 a.m. in a condominium in the 18300 block of Hatteras Street. The man fired one shot toward the woman sharing his condominium but missed, police said. The woman’s identity was not released.

The woman ran to a neighbor’s condominium, where she called police. The man was standing on the balcony trying to push through the door when officers arrived. Police said he then turned the gun on himself.
