Manufacturers Hanover Corp. will cut 1,745 jobs.

The positions will be eliminated worldwide by the end of the year as part of its effort to cut operating expenses, a spokesman said. The employees whose positions are to be eliminated will be absorbed into other divisions of the company, filling spots normally vacated by attrition or retirement, the spokesman said. The cuts will be concentrated in the New York City-based bank headquarters of Manufacturers Hanover Trust.
