The Century City law firm of Pacht, Ross, Warne, Bernhard & Sears has tied the knot with Shea & Gould, one of best-known law firms in New York.

The two law firms announced they have merged, forming a new firm with annual revenues of more than $50 million and six offices nationwide. The combined firm has about 250 lawyers, making it among the 30 largest in the country.

The Shea & Gould name is a familiar one in New York legal circles.

The Shea half is 78-year-old William A. Shea, whose name is on the New York Mets baseball stadium in Queens. Gould is Milton Gould, the well-known, 75-year-old trial attorney who recently represented former Israeli Defense Minister Ariel Sharon in his closely watched libel suit against Time magazine.

Marvin Sears, chairman of the Pacht, Ross’ management committee, called the combination the the “first merger of an established Los Angeles firm with a New York firm.” Although the combination was billed as a merger, the new law firm will keep the Shea & Gould name and the main office will remain in New York.

Pacht, Ross has 45 lawyers in two offices in Los Angeles and Orange County. Shea & Gould has more than 200 lawyers working New York City; Albany, N.Y.; Washington; Miami, and London.
