Local News in Brief : Motorcyclist Dies After Hitting Back of Van
A Reseda man was killed early Friday when his motorcycle rear-ended a van on White Oak Avenue, authorities said.
Los Angeles police said Richard John Whalen, 26, was driving north at excessive speed when his motorcycle hit the back of the van at about 1:50 a.m. near Hart Street in Reseda.
The van driver, unaware of the collision, continued 300 feet with the motorcycle pinned to the van’s rear bumper in an upright position, police said.
Whalen was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
