Work Begun on Buena Park Hampton Inn

Share

Construction has begun in Buena Park on California’s first Hampton Inn, a chain of limited-service hotels operated as a division of Holiday Inns Inc. for travelers who want new, first-rate accommodations but do not need all the amenities of a full-service hotel. Opening is scheduled for February, 1986.

The developer-owner of the new, 184-room, $10.6-million facility on Beach Boulevard at the Artesia (91) Freeway is William Gustafson Co., a Santa Ana builder-developer. The seven-story hotel will offer rooms for smokers and non-smokers, hospitality suite, pool and spa but no restaurant or lounge. Room rates are expected to be 30% to 40% below those of full-service hotels in the area.

Gustafson is developing three other Hampton Inns, to be completed in 1985, in Santa Rosa, Redding and Fresno. The chain expects to have 400 to 500 Hampton Inns open or under development nationally by 1989, including 50 in California by Gustafson.
