A Compton man was arrested after he allegedly threw his girlfriend’s 8-month-old baby from a parked car and then tried to run down the woman when she ran away with the infant, seeking help. Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said Linda Dixon, 20, told them she and the baby were in the car with Chester Stewart, 20, on a Carson street when he became angry and tossed the baby out. He allegedly tried to run over Dixon on the sidewalk several times as she carried her daughter toward a fire station at 1133 W. Rosecrans Ave. Investigators said Deputies William Dunn and Brian Wilkinson chased Stewart to his home where he reached for his waistband, prompting Dunn to raise his service revolver, which accidentally fired. Stewart was not hit. He surrendered immediately and was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. The child was reported in good condition at Dominguez Valley Hospital.
