If They Qualify, Cubs Say They Won’t Play World Series Games at Wrigley
Citing the lack of lights at Wrigley Field, the Chicago Cubs announced Friday that if the ballclub qualifies, it will not play its World Series games at home.
General Manager Dallas Green said, in a letter to season ticket holders, that it is also possible, if the Cubs qualify for the National League playoffs, that the team’s home dates may be moved elsewhere.
Earlier this year, baseball Commissioner Peter Ueberroth told the ballclub and its owners, the Tribune Co., that ABC-TV, which will televise some postseason games, had decided to exercise an option in its contract with league owners to have all such games played at night.
