Bandits terrorized a Sun Valley family in their home, fatally shooting the father before fleeing, Los Angeles police said. The victim was identified as Chainarong Khouananth, 32. Police said he was killed by a single gunshot wound to his upper body. The robbers entered the house in the 13000 block of Schoenborn Street shortly before 6:50 a.m. and assaulted and threatened the family in an attempt to locate valuables, said Lt. Bernard Conine. Khouananth, who came to the United States from Thailand 10 years ago, apparently was not resisting the robbery when he was shot, Conine said. The victim’s wife, Somkid, and an 8-year-old son were beaten and then tied up, Conine said. The woman was able to quickly free herself and alert neighbors, who called police.
