Quake Hits Solomon Sea

WASHINGTON —
A strong earthquake occurred today in the Solomon Sea southwest of New Britain Island, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The 6.9 tremor was centered about 260 miles north of Port Moresby, on Papua, New Guinea.
