Reagan Picks New Chief of Alaskan Air Command

Air Force Lt. Gen. David L. Nichols has been nominated by President Reagan to be commander of the Alaskan Air Command, the Defense Department announced Monday. Nichols, 51, is deputy chief of staff for plans and operations at the Pentagon.

Nichols’ assistant, Maj. Gen. Harley A. Hughes, 49, has been nominated to succeed him.
