Ex-Kissinger Aide to Be Named Envoy to China

WASHINGTON —
President Reagan will nominate Winston Lord as ambassador to China, the White House announced Monday.
Lord, 48, president of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, was an aide to national security adviser Henry A. Kissinger during the Richard M. Nixon Administration and was the State Department’s top policy adviser on China from 1973 to 1977. He would succeed Arthur W. Hummel Jr.
