$500,000 County AIDS Education Plan Urged
Noting that 1,000 county residents are expected to contract AIDS this year, the Los Angeles City/County AIDS Task Force has recommended that the county spend $500,000 to launch a program to educate the public about the deadly virus.
Preventive education is both an “urgent priority” and the primary weapon available to slow the transmission of acquired immune deficiency syndrome because there is no cure yet available, said Dr. Neil Schram, task force chairman.
