The Board of Supervisors is searching for an executive search firm to help it find a replacement for Chief Administrative Officer Clifford Graves, who submitted his resignation July 3.

Supervisor Leon Williams, chairman of the board, said the board will accept bids through Aug. 9 and choose a search firm Aug. 16. He said the board hopes to see a list of semifinalists by the end of September.

It was incorrectly reported in Thursday’s edition that executive search firms that hope to qualify to help choose the new San Diego County chief administrative officer would have to have recruited at least 100 chief executives for public agencies. Actually, the firms need not have successfully placed any chief executives to submit a bid to the county.

The county is seeking someone who has experience managing a government agency comparable in size, complexity and range of services to San Diego County. In order to qualify, the search firm will have to have recruited at least 100 chief executives for jurisdictions with a population of at least 100,000, Williams said.
