The House on Wednesday rejected Antonio B. Won Pat’s bid to overturn the 1984 election of Ben Blaz as Guam’s non-voting delegate to Congress.

Without discussion and by voice vote, the chamber agreed to the House Administration Committee’s recommendation that Won Pat’s complaint was without merit.

Won Pat, a Democrat who had been Guam’s representative in Washington since 1965, said the 1984 election was “fraught with substantial irregularities” that justified the House’s overturning the results. Blaz, a Republican, won the election over Won Pat by a 354-vote margin out of about 31,000 votes cast.
