Emulex responded to Digital’s second suit.

Officials of the Costa Mesa computer parts manufacturer said the company may “seek legal remedies in order to protect the company, our shareholders and customers from any further harassment” stemming from the two recent lawsuits filed by Digital Equipment Corp. of Maynard, Mass., alleging patent infringement and misappropriation of trade secrets. Emulex makes equipment compatible with Digital computers and the two companies have had a longstanding business relationship. Emulex has denied the accusations, calling the latest suit, stemming from the recent hiring of a Digital employee by Emulex, “unfounded and ridiculous.”
