Rep. Badham and the Oil Drilling Plan
Watching Rep. Robert E. Badham (R-Newport Beach) try to cleanse himself of responsibility for the proposed offshore drilling is like watching a bird try to clean the oil off its feathers. It can’t be done.
Badham has defaulted on his constituents. Our slick congressman has had years to establish a Washington power base, but it seems familiarity has bred contempt. His posturing and grandstanding and junketing have been recognized by his peers.
We had no one in Washington to speak for us and no one in Washington who felt it necessary to notify local officials about these negotiations. Badham’s excuses won’t eliminate the blight and pollution he has permitted through his incompetence.
Badham has been in Washington representing himself for many years. May these off shore platforms be a monument to our former congressman.
