Local News in Brief : Burbank Consolidates 3 City Departments
Burbank city officials have consolidated the city’s Redevelopment, Planning and Housing departments into a Community Development Department, which they said will improve coordination between planning and redevelopment activities.
Redevelopment Director Larry Kosmont, 33, was appointed director of the consolidated agencies. Kosmont, who has worked for the city for 20 months, assumed his new duties last Wednesday.
“This move will be of benefit to everyone,” Kosmont said. “There were times when activities between the redevelopment and planning departments could have been better coordinated. This will help us plan activities more thoroughly and harmoniously.”
Planning Director Gary Yamada and Housing and Grants Director Linda Malzek will retain their positions and report to Kosmont.
