A “bag lady” allegedly stabbed and killed a man she claimed harassed her and tried to knife her during an early-morning struggle near the Los Angeles Civic Center, police said. Shirley Hoyt, 39, waited for police after the 1 a.m. stabbing and was arrested on suspicion of murder. Hoyt told detectives that the man began taunting her as she wheeled her belongings down the street in a cart. The victim, who was not identified pending notification of relatives, brandished a knife, and Hoyt pulled her own knife, detectives said.
