The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball filed suit in New York federal court to halt the long-distance telephone company’s promotion of a lottery-like game, “Sprint to the Series Sweepstakes,” as “initiated for the express purpose of unfairly gaining advantage from the popularity of the World Series.” The suit also seeks unspecified damages, tripled under federal trademark law. Sprint denied any infringement of trademark law.
