Walt Disney Productions on Wednesday named a Marriott Corp. executive as its executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Gary L. Wilson will be the third member of Burbank-based Disney’s senior management team along with Michael D. Eisner, chairman and chief executive, and Frank G. Wells, president and chief operating officer, Disney said. Wilson, 45, will be responsible for financial management and strategic planning and will oversee the firm’s expansion program, including internal development and acquisitions.

“Gary has a long and distinguished record of building shareholder value in the food, lodging and entertainment industry while at Marriott,” Eisner said in a statement. “His creative financial skills and proven management abilities will complement our team, and we are delighted to be associated with him now at Disney.”

As chief financial officer, Wilson replaces Michael L. Bagnall, who took early retirement but has remained a consultant to Disney.

Wilson has served as executive vice president and chief financial officer at Marriott, which he joined in 1974 as vice president and treasurer. He was also named to Disney’s board of directors.
