Owners of two apartment buildings on South Greenwood Avenue in Montebello have until Aug. 22 to correct health and safety and building code violations on their properties, the City Council has ruled. The buildings constitute a public nuisance due to cockroach and mice infestation, falling ceilings, holes in the walls, broken windows and defective electrical connections, the council ruled. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Bent, owners of apartment units at 1249-53 S. Greenwood Ave., and Stephen Chi-Sen Li, owner of an apartment at 1257 S. Greenwood Ave., testified before the council July 22 that they have made some of the required repairs. Residents who live near the two buildings complained of deterioration and lack of maintenance at the apartments.
