Grant Williams; Starred in ’57 ‘Shrinking Man’ Film

Grant Williams, a film actor who gained a considerable cult following after appearing as “The Incredible Shrinking Man” in 1957, died Sunday in the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Los Angeles.
Williams, a native of New York City who studied under Lee Strasberg before coming to Hollywood, was 54 and was being treated for toxemia, a VA spokesman said.
Williams, in a film career that began in 1956 with “Written on the Wind,” appeared in several science fiction films, including “The Couch,” “The Monolith Monsters” and “Doomsday.”
He also had a featured role in “PT-109” and was one of the co-stars of the television series “Hawaiian Eye” from 1960 to 1963.
His TV guest appearances included “Studio One,” “Climax,” “The Outer Limits” and “The Munsters.”
Most recently, he conducted his own acting school here. His survivors include a brother, Robert.
