Golly, David Tulanian, didn’t it ever occur to you that if we countries in the West did dole out food to Ethiopia, we’d be doing it for the starving Ethiopians and not for a third-rate, Third World dictator (Calendar Letters, July 28)?

I’ll bet if you wiped some political mud from your eyes you’d see that. No, wait . . . perhaps you’re right. Maybe we should let them suffer because they happen to live in a country that is a client of the Soviet Union.

Well, let’s just watch Wally George and see what he thinks.
