A Salute for Kroc

I don’t want to quarrel with Edwin O. Leonard, even his “Pax Atomica Peace.” He has written some of the most sensible letters to the editors that I’ve seen. But we ought to give Joan Kroc much credit for her character and courage!

Sir, whether you’re a democrat or authoritarian, agree with Mrs. Kroc or think she should give her money to Weinberger to buy anthrax gas, you’ve got to admit that she’s a lady who puts her money where her mouth is! Not many of us do that. Certainly none of President Reagan’s rich buddies are doing it--and neither are their stables of hired hands in the House and Senate!

Hang in there, Mrs. Kroc! Your kind may be approaching extinction but you can’t give up because of that.
