Jury selection is set to resume Monday in the second trial on perjury and conspiracy charges of San Diego Mayor Roger Hedgecock, whose previous trial ended in a hung jury when a city employee held out for Hedgecock’s innocence. The defense had asked the California Supreme Court to consider a list of defense complaints about the judge and prosecutor, but none of the seven justices voted to approve the request. The mayor faces 15 charges in connection with a scheme involving the alleged funneling of $350,000 from the J. David & Co. investment firm to Hedgecock’s 1983 campaign.
