Brazil Bishop Resigns

VATICAN CITY —
Pope John Paul II has accepted the resignation of Msgr. Quirino Adolfo Schmitz, 66, the bishop of Teofilo Otoni in Brazil, the Vatican announced Saturday.
It said Msgr. Fernando Antonio de Figueiredo, 45, auxiliary bishop of the diocese, will take over running of the diocese.
The Vatican gave no reason for the resignation.
