From Reuters
LONDON —
Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother whizzed around the British coastline at speeds of up to 1,350 m.p.h. today aboard a Concorde airliner for a supersonic birthday treat.
The Queen Mum, who was 85 on Sunday, was accompanied by two of her six grandchildren, Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones and Viscount Linley, the children of Princess Margaret, as she fulfilled a long-held wish to fly in a Concorde. The two-hour flight was organized by the state carrier, British Airways.
