The 3rd District Court of Appeal in Sacramento temporarily blocked the release of 400 pages of court records on Charles Chat Ng, 24, a suspect in the murders of at least 11 people whose remains were found near Wilseyville. Publishers of the Sacramento Bee, San Francisco Chronicle and Stockton Record have filed suit in an effort to make the records public. Last week, the Calaveras County Justice Court ordered the documents unsealed, but acting Presiding Justice Hugh Evans of the appellate court stayed the order “pending receipt of opposition, further documentation and further order of this court.” Ng, arrested in Canada, is suspected of being an accomplice of Leonard Lake, 39, who committed suicide while in police custody.
