Hill’s Attorney Says Athletic Director Was Not Asked to Resign by Day
San Diego State Athletic Director Mary Alice Hill has not been asked to resign, according to William Woods, the attorney representing Hill in her dealings with the SDSU administration.
A published report Monday said Hill was told she should resign during Saturday’s meeting with SDSU President Thomas Day, attorney Bill Knight (representing the California State University system), Hill and Woods.
“That’s not true,” Woods said late Monday afternoon. “No decision has been made. Mr. Day is standing firm and waiting for all the reports to come in.”
Hill is on a two-week vacation ordered by Day. The vacation was ordered after Hill fired three members of her staff and severed ties with Mike Urbano’s Regions West marketing company 13 days ago. Hours later, the employees were reinstated and the contract with Regions West was reported to not be severed. Hill and Day were both unavailable for comment Monday.
Woods would not disclose when the parties would meet next.
