A Marine who was wounded in the October, 1983, bombing of Marine headquarters in Lebanon that killed 240 U.S servicemen has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for twice raping his 11-year-old daughter.

Staff Sgt. Donald T. Long, 30, was convicted Tuesday by a jury of six officers at a general court-martial at Camp Lejeune. He also was reduced to private and given a dishonorable discharge.

The two assaults occurred in January at Long’s home on the base.

Long told a military judge, Col. R. J. Blum, that he suffered emotional and physical problems after being wounded in Beirut and that he believes his medical care was inadequate. Long said he developed a drinking problem after Lebanon duty and said he had been drinking when the rapes occurred.
