The City Council agreed this week to include restrictions on the diameter of satellite dish antennas in a proposed ordinance that would regulate use of the dishes throughout the city

The council voted 3 to 1 to limit the diameter to no larger than eight feet, in addition to earlier restrictions that require the dishes to be screened from view and, if installed on roofsteps, to be within city height limits.

Councilman Gil Archuletta opposed the amendment, saying the original restrictions were sufficient. Mayor Jim Walker was on vacation.

The revisions will delay final passage of the ordinance until the next meeting on Aug. 20. If adopted, the ordinance would take effect in late September.
