Huntington Memorial Hospital and Vista Hill Foundation of San Diego will build and operate a $10-million, 80-bed nonprofit psychiatric hospital on the grounds at Huntington, spokesmen announced.

The cost will be divided between Huntington and Vista Hill, a nonprofit foundation specializing in acute psychiatric care. Construction is scheduled to begin next spring, with completion planned for January, 1987.

Tentative plans call for treatment of adult patients with such general psychiatric disorders as severe depression, neuroses and schizophrenia. Also under consideration are programs for the elderly, whose problems might include depression and Alzheimer’s disease.

Huntington has long planned to add mental health services while Vista Hill specializes in establishing units on the campuses of medical centers, according to spokesmen for both organizations.
