GTE said it expects Sprint losses to continue.

The long-distance carrier of Stamford, Conn.-based GTE will probably continue its losses through next year and possibly into 1987, before “certainly” showing a profit in 1988, said James Broadhead, president of GTE Communications Services Group. Sprint is expected to lose about $200 million this year, and Broadhead said 1986 results “might well be worse than 1985.” GTE has blamed the losses on high marketing costs and sharply higher access charges.
