Israel ordered 22 Arabs, all former prisoners released in a controversial prisoner exchange, expelled from the occupied West Bank because they do not have residency permits, defense sources said today.

The sources said 31 of the 1,150 Arab prisoners exchanged May 20 for three Israeli prisoners of war were temporarily permitted to remain on the West Bank and Gaza Strip while they tried to prove that they had lived previously in the occupied areas. The 22 ordered expelled could not do so.
