Deputy Who Rescued Actress From Attack Saves Infant’s Life
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeffrey Fenn, who became a national hero three years ago by rescuing actress Theresa Saldana from an attacker who was stabbing her, was credited Sunday with saving an infant’s life in Temple City.
Fenn, who joined the Sheriff’s Department after the Saldana rescue, responded to an emergency call Saturday and found 11-month-old Jonathon Sadler unconscious. The infant had fallen into a bathtub and nearly drowned before his mother and uncle found him, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department said.
Fenn revived the boy with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and then rushed him to a hospital in a patrol car. The infant was in good condition Sunday.
In 1982, while working as a bottled-water delivery man, Fenn heard Saldana screaming for help outside her West Hollywood apartment as she grappled with a man who had stabbed her 10 times. Fenn pulled the assailant off her and was credited with saving the actress’s life.
Saldana later re-created the incident on film, playing herself in a TV movie, “The Theresa Saldana Story.”
