Microcomputer Memories Inc., a 3-year-old disk-drive maker, reported increased sales but a net loss for its first quarter ended June 1. The company also announced plans to move in November into new, 45,000-square-foot office and manufacturing facility in Chatsworth.

The company, now in Van Nuys, has yet to show a profit. Net losses for its first quarter reached $982,961, or 7 cents a share, against a net loss for the same period a year ago of $951,152, or just under 12 cents a share.

Microcomputer Memories reported sales for the quarter of $1.1 million, against sales of $22,847 in the same period last year. The company makes 3 1/2-inch hard-disk drives, which store information in a computer. Most disks are 5 inches.

“We’ve delayed the move as long as possible, waiting until our order level topped capacity,” said Rick Eirich, vice president of marketing. “Nobody makes a move like this without some nervousness,” he said.
