Kuwait Airways has abandoned hope of recovering its A-300 Airbus jet, hijacked to Iran by Islamic fundamentalists last December. The Kuwaiti newspaper Al Qabas said insurance companies have agreed to reimburse the carrier, which will seek about $60 million. Airline chairman Ahmed Mishari was quoted as saying that all efforts to regain the plane had failed. The Airbus was hijacked by four men who demanded that Kuwait free 17 terrorists convicted of bombing the U.S. and French embassies in December, 1983.
