Grandfather Convicted of Molesting Girl
A 60-year-old Sunland man was convicted Wednesday by a Van Nuys Superior Court jury of sexually molesting his granddaughter on three occasions in 1978 and 1979.
Henry T. Wight could be sent to state prison for up to 12 years when he is sentenced Sept. 11. Wight was in police custody in lieu of $20,000 bail.
His granddaughter, who is now 18 and lives in Van Nuys, testified that Wight had sexual intercourse with her twice in December, 1978, at his home in Granada Hills and again in November or December of 1979 in his car.
The victim also is expected to testify against her uncle, Daniel Walter Boemeke, 38, of Northridge. Boemeke, who is Wight’s son-in-law, has been charged with six counts of lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor and two counts of rape, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Robert L. Cohen.
