A Philippine citizen who applied for political asylum in the United States pleaded guilty to seven counts of embezzling an estimated $2 million last year from a Los Angeles branch of the Tokai Bank of California, authorities said. Lorenzo Abraham Pacia Jr., 41, a former resident of Carson, applied for political asylum in this country and worked as a senior note clerk for the Tokai bank, Assistant U.S. Atty. Gary A. Feess said. Pacia began making unauthorized withdrawals on existing lines of credit and creating fictitious lines of credit against which he ultimately withdrew $2 million for his own use, Feess said. Sentencing before U.S. District Judge Terry J. Hatter Jr. was set for Oct. 21.
