Gnats Foul Venice Runway

VENICE, Italy —
Thick swarms of gnats invaded the runway of Venice’s Marco Polo Airport--reducing visibility, clogging aircraft engines and forcing a suspension of evening flights, an airport official reported Wednesday. All flights after dusk to and from Venice are being diverted to the nearby town of Treviso.
