Costa Mesa : 70 Candidates Apply for City Manager Job

Share

The search for a new city manager is beginning to wind down with about 70 candidates from around the state having filed applications for the job. Fred Sorsabal is leaving in October after 15 years in the position to assume a top post with a charitable fraternal organization.

Among the candidates for the $78,816-a-year post are several high-level city employees. According to Sorsabal, Alan Roeder, Costa Mesa’s assistant city manager, is a candidate for the job.

The search, which began last May when Sorsabal announced his resignation, has been led by the Sacramento executive recruiting firm of Ralph Anderson and Associates. According to Mayor Norma Hertzog, the firm will present its list of candidates to the City Council Monday night and interviews can begin within a few weeks.

Sorsabal said the task of finding a replacement has been on schedule so far and he expects to be able to leave civic duty by his Oct. 31 resignation date.
