Scribner Called Challenge to GOP

Share

Rob Scribner’s appeal to Christian pastors to support his bid for Congress as the 27th District’s representative because “God Is Calling Him” is a greater challenge to the Republican Party than it is to the incumbent, Mel Levine (Democrat).

The Republicans must decide whether they wish a candidate that appeals to a narrow, limited, bigoted view of Christianity, and would reject those whose religious views differ, but do have the same moral and ethical values, or one who represents the multicultural, “in God we trust,” American ideal, that leaves to the individual one’s own concept of the divine.

Their final determination that it not be Scribner is the more effective response to this “Christian” (?) pastor’s appeal, which violates the nation’s commitment to democratic values.
