Patrick Modugno Quits San Fernando Council

San Fernando City Councilman Patrick Modugno has resigned because he is moving to the Santa Clarita Valley. The resignation became effective Tuesday.

Modugno was elected to the City Council in April, 1980, and served as mayor from 1982 to 1984. In April, 1984, he was reelected to his second four-year term. A lifelong San Fernando resident, he said he decided to move to purchase a larger home.

The remaining four members of the council must now decide whether to appoint someone to fill Modugno’s unexpired term or to leave the council seat vacant until the next municipal election in April, 1986. The council has 30 days to make a decision.
