A Fountain Valley liquor store clerk was stabbed and bludgeoned when he tried to disarm a robber, police said. Officer Steve Isaacs said Randall Wampler, 24, of Huntington Beach was behind the counter at Mile Square Liquor in the 16500 block of Brookhurst Street when a young man entered, wielding a sharp object, and demanded money. When Wampler tried to disarm the man, Isaacs said, he was stabbed in the chest and head. The bandit took Wampler’s wallet containing an unknown amount of money, got in a car and fled south on Brookhurst. Wampler was admitted to Fountain Valley Community Hospital.
