Police Cmdr. Bruce Philpott has been selected as a special assistant to City Manager Donald F. McIntyre to administer implementation of the Northwest Strategy, a revitalization plan for the city’s most troubled area. Philpott, a 23-year veteran of the Police Department, will coordinate the roles of several city agencies in initiating plans for the northwest section, where unemployment and crime rates are the highest in Pasadena. The Northwest Strategy encompasses several plans for redevelopment and heightened community involvement in the area. Philpott will take an indefinite leave of absence from the police force to become McIntyre’s assistant.
