Local News in Brief : 2 Charged With Killing Van Nuys Store Clerk
Two men were charged with murder Wednesday in the Aug. 14 shooting of a clerk at a 7-Eleven store at 16056 Sherman Way, Van Nuys.
Phouvong Inthavong, 19, a transient, is accused of firing the two shots that killed Vijay Shankar Roy, 38, of North Hollywood. Aries Yap, 20, of Sun Valley drove the getaway car, according to Deputy Dist. Atty. Ed Consiglio.
The two also were charged Wednesday with the robbery of a man and the attempted robbery of a woman at an apartment in Panorama City on Aug. 15. In that incident, investigators allege, Inthavong threatened the two victims with a gun and Yap drove the getaway car.
Arraignment was continued until Sept. 4 in Van Nuys Municipal Court. Both defendants remained in custody without bail.
