The death of Orange County Jail inmate Robin Ross Latham was being investigated Wednesday by the district attorney’s office.

Latham, 34, was on the bunk in his cell when he apparently stopped breathing about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Sheriff’s Department. Cell mates notified deputies, who called paramedics, Deputy Dist. Atty. Thomas Goethals said.

Latham was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where doctors pronounced him dead about 6:30 p.m. An autopsy was to be conducted Wednesday evening.
