Palisades Highlands residents will request a hearing before the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power in an attempt to resolve their contention that a significant increase in water pressure in June caused thousands of dollars in plumbing damage to pipes and sprinkler systems.

Hyman Haves, chairman of the Palisades Highlands homeowners associations, said association representatives met Monday and decided to ask for a hearing and file claims with the water department in an attempt to avoid costly and time-consuming lawsuits.
