John A. Ferch, the new U.S. ambassador to Honduras, presented his credentials Thursday to President Roberto Suazo Cordova, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

Ferch replaces John D. Negroponte, who left in May for Washington to become an assistant secretary of state. Ferch, 49, was previously head of the U.S. Interests Section in Havana. He has also served in Argentina, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico.
